MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Specifically designed for compatibility with MRI equipment, these covers act as an efficient barrier that significantly lowers the risk of cross-contamination between patients. Crafted from soft, hypoallergenic materials, they offer a gentle surface suitable for sensitive skin while fitting securely over headrests of various shapes and sizes using a reliable hook-and-loop fastener. Their user-friendly design ensures a seamless experience for patients and staff alike.

These disposable headrest covers are an indispensable addition to any collection of MRI products, streamlining cleaning processes and improving operational efficiency in diagnostic centers and hospitals. By eliminating the need for time-intensive disinfection, the covers accelerate turnover times without compromising cleanliness or patient care. With their durable, latex-free composition, they offer optimal functionality and contribute to a safer and more efficient diagnostic environment.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can MRI Disposable Headrest Covers be used safely inside the MRI suite?

Yes. These disposable headrest covers are made from non-magnetic, non-conductive materials and are MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, allowing safe use in MRI Zones III and IV. They contain no metal components, adhesives, or fibers that could interfere with magnetic fields, ensuring safe use on patient tables and positioning pads during or between scans.

2. How do disposable headrest covers help with infection control in MRI environments?

MRI headrest covers provide a clean, single-use barrier between the patient and the headrest, reducing cross-contamination risks in high-traffic imaging centers. They’re latex-free, hypoallergenic, and soft to the touch, protecting both patients and equipment. By eliminating the need for disinfection between exams, they help shorten room turnover times and support compliance with infection prevention protocols.

3. Do these MRI headrest covers fit all table types and positioning pads?

Yes. These covers are designed with a hook-and-loop fastener that adjusts to a wide range of headrest shapes and sizes. They’re suitable for most MRI tables and positioning systems, providing a secure, wrinkle-free fit that stays in place throughout patient setup and scanning. Each case includes 100 disposable covers, making them a practical option for hospitals and outpatient imaging centers.

4. Do disposable MRI headrest covers actually help reduce cleaning time between patients?

Yes. These covers speed up turnover because the headrest doesn’t need a full disinfecting cycle after every exam. Techs simply remove the used cover, wipe the underlying surface if needed, and place a new one. For busy MRI schedules — especially neuro, spine, or biopsy days — that saves several minutes per patient. Facilities that rely on predictable exam flow often use disposables specifically to keep their table, coils, and headrest areas ready for the next scan faster.

5.  Are the materials safe for patients with allergies or sensitive skin during MRI exams?

Yes. The covers are soft, latex-free, and hypoallergenic, which makes them a good choice for patients with sensitive skin or known material sensitivities. Because the material stays comfortable and doesn’t bunch or stick, it reduces friction on the back of the head during long scans. Imaging centers that see pediatric patients, oncology patients, or anyone prone to skin irritation often prefer disposable covers for that extra layer of comfort and protection.
