MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of supplies are usually stored in MRI storage bin systems?

MRI departments commonly use storage shelves like this for gloves, wipes, syringes, patient prep supplies, positioning accessories, tape, PPE, cleaning products, and other small consumables that staff need to access quickly throughout the day. Keeping these items separated and visible helps reduce clutter inside busy imaging areas.

Why is organized supply storage important in MRI suites?

MRI departments often manage high patient volume with limited workspace. Organized storage systems help improve workflow efficiency by reducing time spent searching for supplies during room turnover, patient preparation, or cleaning procedures. Clearly organized consumables can also help support inventory management and cleaner work areas.

Can this shelf be used outside of MRI scan rooms?

Yes. Many facilities place MRI-compatible storage shelves in prep rooms, control rooms, nurse stations, equipment areas, and radiology workspaces where organized storage is needed without introducing standard metal shelving into MRI-designated environments.
