MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the 3 Tier Horizontal Rail System MR Conditional for MRI use?

Yes. The 3 Tier Horizontal Rail System is MR Conditional, designed for safe use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, following ASTM F2503 standards. It’s built with low-ferrous aluminum that minimizes magnetic attraction and interference, making it safe for use in MRI Zones III and IV when installed on MR Conditional carts.

What does the 3-tier horizontal design add to an MRI cart?

The three-tier layout creates extra horizontal mounting space for accessories and supplies, helping staff keep essential tools organized and close at hand. Each rail can hold tilt bins, sharps holders, label dispensers, or other attachments, giving your cart more flexibility without taking up work surface area. It’s an easy way to improve workflow and storage efficiency in busy MRI suites.

Which MRI carts are compatible with this rail system?

This system is designed to fit Harloff-brand MRI anesthesia and emergency carts, as well as other MR Conditional carts with standard rear mounting points. The included hardware allows quick installation and secure attachment, ensuring a stable setup even when the cart is moved or loaded with accessories.

What materials are used, and how durable is it in daily MRI use?

The rail system is made from high-grade, low-ferrous aluminum coated with a heat-sealed powder-coat finish in a neutral sand color. This finish resists scratches, disinfectants, and daily wear. The aluminum frame is lightweight yet strong, offering years of dependable use in clinical environments where both durability and MRI safety matter.

How do I install and maintain the 3 Tier Horizontal Rail System?

Installation is simple. Each kit includes pre-drilled holes and mounting hardware, so you can attach it to the back of the cart with a standard screwdriver. Once installed, it requires very little maintenance—just periodic checks to ensure the rails stay tight and regular cleaning with non-corrosive, MRI-approved disinfectants.
