MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

This 3-inch by 36-yard yellow and black vinyl safety tape is a critical component for marking hazardous zones or restricted areas in professional workspaces. Its high-visibility design ensures clear, unambiguous boundaries, enhancing safety protocols for facilities managing sensitive environments, including those handling MRI equipment or other specialized operations. The vibrant contrast of yellow and black ensures attention is drawn immediately, promoting a safer and more organized workspace.

Crafted from heavy-duty 8.8 mil vinyl, this safety tape offers exceptional durability and resistance to wear, even under demanding conditions. The over-laminated surface helps the tape stay cleaner for longer, maintaining its visibility and effectiveness. With strong adhesion to various surfaces, this product provides reliable performance for both temporary and permanent applications. Ideal for industries that demand stringent safety measures, it offers an efficient and cost-effective solution for enhancing compliance with safety standards while organizing facilities involving MRI products.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What makes yellow and black vinyl tape useful for marking MRI safety zones and restricted areas?

Facilities use this tape because the high-contrast yellow and black pattern immediately signals caution, which helps staff and visitors recognize restricted areas before they cross into them. It’s commonly applied to mark MRI Zone boundaries, trip hazards, cable pathways, supply areas, and controlled-access points where clear visibility reduces risk. The bold striping stands out across long hallways and dimly lit rooms, which is why many MRI teams rely on it during safety audits and workflow updates.

2. Will this tape hold up to heavy traffic and daily cleaning in an MRI suite?

Yes. The tape is built from 8.8-mil over-laminated vinyl, which gives it much better durability than standard floor tape. It resists scuffing, dirt, repeated scrubbing, and the disinfectants used in clinical environments. Even in busy suites with stretchers, wheelchairs, and equipment carts rolling over it, the adhesive stays secure and the pattern stays readable—helping your safety markings last longer between replacements.

3. Can this vinyl safety tape be used directly around MRI equipment?

It can. The tape is made from non-metallic, non-conductive materials, making it suitable for use on floors, walls, and equipment boundaries inside MRI environments. Many facilities use it to create clear visual cues around areas where magnetic hazards are a concern, especially where staff need quick reminders about where certain equipment can or cannot go. It’s a simple way to support compliance and reinforce safety practices without interfering with the scanner.
