MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The 32-gallon, MR Conditional Linen Hamper features a strong, durable co-polymer base designed to support heavy loads without interfering with wheel performance or maneuverability. The integrated Tuck-n-Snap bag retention system makes securing liners fast and simple. Lift the brackets, wrap the bag edges around them, then lower and snap the brackets into the outer frame. The system automatically adjusts to the bag’s thickness to hold it firmly in place. For quick bag changes, simply lift the Tuck-n-Snap brackets to release the liner.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the foot-pedal lid help in an MRI environment?

The hands-free foot pedal helps staff open the hamper without touching the lid directly, which supports cleaner linen handling and better infection-control workflow. In busy MRI departments where technologists are constantly moving between patients, supplies, and equipment, reducing hand contact can make daily operations more efficient and hygienic.

Is this MRI linen hamper easy to maneuver when fully loaded?

Yes. The co-polymer base and balanced frame are designed to support heavy linen loads while still rolling smoothly through imaging departments and tight hallways. The durable wheel system helps maintain maneuverability without compromising stability during transport.

What makes the Tuck-n-Snap bag retention system useful for staff?

The Tuck-n-Snap system keeps liners secured without complicated fasteners or adjustments. Staff can quickly replace bags between patients by lifting the brackets, positioning the liner, and snapping the frame back into place. That faster workflow helps reduce downtime in high-volume MRI settings.

Why does an MRI department need a dedicated MR Conditional linen hamper?

MRI suites operate under stricter equipment restrictions than general clinical areas because standard carts and hampers may contain ferromagnetic materials that are unsafe near the magnet. A dedicated MR Conditional linen hamper allows environmental services teams, nurses, and imaging staff to move linens safely within MRI-designated spaces while supporting established MRI safety procedures.

Where is this hamper typically used inside healthcare facilities?

This type of hamper is commonly used in MRI departments, outpatient imaging centers, surgical imaging suites, and hospital radiology units. Facilities often place MRI-designated linen hampers near changing areas, prep rooms, recovery spaces, or patient transfer zones where linens need to be collected without introducing non-approved equipment into controlled MRI environments.
