MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Why do MRI facilities choose this 50-pack of MR Safe labels over smaller sets?

Many MRI departments prefer the 50-pack because it lets them standardize labeling across all non-metallic and non-conductive items without running short. With more labels on hand, techs can quickly tag new supplies, replace worn labels, and maintain clean, consistent identification during audits. It’s a cost-effective way to keep tools, accessories, and storage areas marked according to current ASTM standards.

2. Are these labels durable enough for daily cleaning and busy MRI workflow?

Yes. These labels use a semi-permanent adhesive and a wear-resistant surface that holds up to routine disinfecting, regular handling, and temperature changes inside the suite. The print stays clear, so the MR Safe icon remains readable during safety checks, equipment prep, and patient turnover.

3. What customization options come with the 50-pack, and why does size matter?

The pack includes two sizes—1.5" and 3.5"—and buyers can choose any mix of MR Safe, MR Conditional, and MR Unsafe labels. Smaller labels fit handheld tools and accessories, while larger ones work well on carts, drawers, and equipment that travels between zones. Having both sizes helps facilities keep their labeling system consistent, visible, and compliant across every area of the MRI suite.
