MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do Child MediGoggles improve comfort and cooperation during pediatric MRI scans?

Child MediGoggles help young patients see clearly and feel more at ease inside the MRI scanner. The adjustable, non-metallic frame and interchangeable prescription lenses let technologists match each child’s vision needs, reducing anxiety in an unfamiliar setting. Because children can maintain normal visual focus, these goggles often help minimize motion and improve scan quality—a key factor in pediatric MRI workflows.

2. What makes these goggles safe for use in MRI and other imaging environments?

These goggles are completely non-metallic and non-conductive, meaning they contain no ferrous components that could react in a magnetic field. They are suitable for use in MRI, fMRI, CT, PET, and X-ray systems. The frame is lightweight and contoured to fit comfortably in smaller RF coils, and the anti-mist design ensures a clear field of vision throughout the scan.

3. How do facilities clean, store, and maintain MediGoggles between patients?

Each set comes with a cleaning kit, storage case, and vision chart to support proper care and setup. After use, simply wipe the goggles and lenses with a hospital-approved, non-abrasive disinfectant and dry them with the included cloth. The lenses can be swapped out or replaced as needed, helping facilities maintain hygiene and extend the product’s lifespan in busy imaging departments.
