MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this titanium combination wrench be used safely around MRI machines?

Yes. The wrench is made from non-magnetic titanium, so it won’t be pulled toward the magnet or cause image distortion. It’s suitable for routine adjustments on coil brackets, table hardware, covers, and support frames inside MRI suites where ferromagnetic tools can’t be used.

2. Why would an MRI facility choose an imperial combination wrench instead of a full non-magnetic wrench set?

Many MRI systems—especially older or U.S.-built models—use imperial fasteners, so having the right single size on hand can save time during quick fixes or PM tasks. This wrench provides the flexibility of an open-end and a box-end in one tool, making it useful for tight spaces and torque-sensitive adjustments around MRI equipment.

3. How does the titanium construction stand up to frequent cleaning and daily service work?

Titanium handles hospital disinfectants, moisture, and heavy daily use without corroding or losing grip strength. It’s lightweight and hypoallergenic, which helps techs who use tools all day. The durability makes it a dependable option for long-term MRI maintenance, repairs, and equipment installs.
