MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this cylinder be used safely inside the MRI suite?

Yes. This cylinder is made from non-magnetic, non-conductive materials and is MR Conditional, meaning it’s suitable for use in MRI Zones III and IV, including inside the magnet room at 1.5T and 3T. It’s designed to maintain stability and function without causing artifacts or interference during active imaging.

2. What is this cylinder used for in MRI procedures?

This cylinder is primarily used for abdominal compression during kidney biopsies and other imaging exams that require controlled, stable positioning. It helps reduce patient movement and improve image clarity, making it a valuable positioning aid in abdominal and interventional MRI applications.

3. What are the dimensions and specifications of this cylinder?

The cylinder measures 4.25 inches in diameter and 12 inches in length, providing a balanced size for general and targeted use. Its durable build supports repeated handling and long-term use across MRI, CT, Nuclear Medicine, and Ultrasound procedures.

4. Is this positioning cylinder compatible with other imaging modalities?

Yes. Although designed for MRI use, this cylinder is also suitable for CT, Ultrasound, Nuclear Medicine, and general patient positioning. Its lightweight, non-magnetic construction ensures it performs reliably across multiple imaging environments.
