MR Unsafe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this 4-channel DVR recorder integrate with our existing MRI camera system?

Yes. This 5MP DVR recorder connects easily to most existing MRI camera systems using standard BNC inputs and supports multiple signal formats — AHD, TVI, CVI, CVBS, XVI, and IP — all in one unit. That flexibility makes it a drop-in upgrade for facilities looking to replace outdated recorders or consolidate different camera types under one system. It’s often used with MRI CCTV single- or dual-camera systems to record patient monitoring footage directly from the control room.

2. Is the DVR designed for use inside the MRI room or in the control area?

This unit is intended for installation outside the magnet room — typically in the control area or equipment room — where the magnetic field is not present. It connects to the MRI camera feed through shielded cables that pass through the waveguide. This setup protects both the recorder and the scanner, ensuring reliable 5MP video recording without introducing interference in the imaging suite.

3. What makes this DVR recorder a good choice for MRI video monitoring?

It’s built for high-quality video capture and efficient storage, supporting 5-megapixel resolution with H.265 compression to keep recordings crisp while minimizing file size. Facilities can record up to four cameras simultaneously, back up directly to HDD, and output to HDMI, VGA, or CVBS displays for flexible monitoring. Combined with an MR Conditional camera system, it helps MRI staff maintain continuous, high-resolution visual documentation of patient activity during procedures.
