MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The FerrAlert Halo II Ferromagnetic Detection System is an advanced solution for enhancing safety and efficiency in MRI environments. Designed to integrate seamlessly with existing MRI products, this innovative system utilizes cutting-edge ferromagnetic detection technology to identify potential threats before they enter Zone IV, where the MRI equipment is located. Its Intelligent Visual Advanced Warning Technology provides early alerts as ferromagnetic objects approach the portal, with warnings activated sooner for higher threats. Additionally, the system features an automatic audio alarm triggered only at the threshold if visual warnings are ignored, helping mitigate risks of accidents, protecting equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety standards set by ACR and The Joint Commission.

With 24 sensors for precise detection from head to toe, the FerrAlert Halo II suppresses false alarms while maintaining high sensitivity to ferromagnetic threats. This reduces alarm fatigue and optimizes workflow by enabling seamless threat identification without the need for invasive pat-downs or handheld detectors. Its distinct ability to pinpoint the location of ferromagnetic objects allows technologists to maintain full control of the MRI room, with alarm status visible from both inside and outside the suite. By prioritizing reliable detection and operational efficiency, the FerrAlert Halo II is an essential addition for any modern MRI equipment setup, ensuring patient and staff safety in high-stakes medical environments.

FerrAlert™ HALO II has easily understood status indicators:
