MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can the GE 18pc tool kit be used safely inside a 3T MRI room?

Yes. Every tool in this kit is made from non-magnetic titanium, so it’s safe to use in Zones III and IV around 3 Tesla systems. The tools won’t attract toward the magnet or interfere with GE MRI equipment, which makes them dependable for in-room adjustments, quick fixes, and service work without leaving the suite.

2. Does this GE MRI tool kit include the sizes technicians actually need for scanner maintenance?

It does. The kit includes T-handle hex keys, open-end wrenches, Phillips and flat-blade screwdrivers, pliers, tweezers, and a folding ruler—the core tools technicians and biomeds use most often on GE systems. It’s built for practical, everyday maintenance: coil hardware checks, table adjustments, light fixture tightening, cable bracket repairs, and other routine tasks inside a high-field room.

3. How well do the titanium tools hold up to daily cleaning and repeated use in a clinical environment?

Titanium performs extremely well in MRI settings. It’s corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and strong, so it stands up to frequent disinfecting and regular handling by techs and service engineers. The included hard carrying case helps keep tools organized and protected, making the kit reliable for long-term use in busy imaging departments.
