MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The Gleiter Pad is a purpose-built patient transfer device that also delivers clear, artifact-free imaging across MRI, CT, and X-ray procedures—without compromising comfort or image quality. Its radiolucent construction supports consistent, high-quality imaging while enabling safe and efficient patient handling. Made from high-density, cross-linked foam, the pad offers lightweight durability and full-body support, while insulating patients from cold imaging tables for a more stable and comfortable experience during transfers and scans. The waterproof, stain-resistant cover is easy to clean between uses, and its low-friction surface allows for smooth repositioning with minimal effort. Six reinforced handles provide secure grip points for controlled transfers, making it especially valuable for patients with limited mobility.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Will the transfer pad interfere with MRI or CT imaging?

No. The pad is made with radiolucent materials that support clear imaging without introducing artifacts or distortion during MRI, CT, or X-ray procedures. That allows patients to remain supported while maintaining image quality.

2. How does the low-friction surface help during patient transfers?

The low-friction design helps caregivers reposition or transfer patients with less physical effort. This can reduce strain on staff while helping patients experience smoother, more controlled movement between stretchers, tables, and imaging surfaces.

3. Is the transfer pad easy to disinfect between patients?

Yes. The waterproof, stain-resistant cover is designed for quick cleaning between uses. That makes it practical for busy imaging departments where fast turnaround and infection-control protocols are important.
