MR Unsafe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The Hand-Held Ferromagnetic Detector is an advanced MRI patient screening tool engineered to enhance safety and efficiency. Unlike conventional MRI equipment, this portable device can independently detect both ferrous and non-ferrous metals, offering comprehensive protection against adverse magnetic field interactions and potential RF-induced heating. Its lightweight, ergonomic design is paired with a customizable control interface, ensuring precise and reliable operation tailored to individual patient needs. With its large detection area, dual-tone and dual-color display, and three distinct analysis modes, the detector facilitates fast and accurate screenings for either ferrous-only or full metal detection across the head, body, or entire body.

Ideal for MRI-related workflows, this powerful device includes features such as audible, silent-vibration, and visual-magnitude alerts for enhanced precision in pinpointing identified items. Visual and audio signals provide real-time feedback on an object’s location, improving efficiency and accuracy during screenings. Built-in rechargeable batteries reduce operational costs and support sustainable practices.

Note: that this device is not intended for use in Zone IV of MRI facilities.
