MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The Infant Nasal Cannula with Trumpet Connector and 7' Supply Tube is specifically engineered to provide reliable and efficient oxygen delivery in neonatal care environments. Designed for flexible usability, the cannula features a 7-foot supply tube that ensures ample length for optimal positioning while maintaining patient comfort and functionality. The trumpet connector enhances attachment stability, reducing the risk of accidental disconnections during usage. Its high-quality, latex-free materials contribute to both durability and patient safety, making it an ideal choice for healthcare professionals.

This nasal cannula is compatible with a wide range of advanced medical technologies and MRI equipment, positioning it as an integral component in neonatal respiratory support. Key features include low-flow oxygen delivery, soft curved prongs to minimize irritation, and pliable tubing that reduces pressure on sensitive areas such as cheeks and ears. Each unit is designed for single use, ensuring hygienic application, and comes in a pack of 50 pieces to support high-demand healthcare settings.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How does this infant nasal cannula support safe oxygen delivery during MRI procedures?

This infant nasal cannula is made from non-metallic, non-conductive materials, allowing it to be safely used in MRI environments when paired with MR Conditional oxygen systems. The soft, flexible tubing minimizes pressure on delicate skin, while the trumpet connector ensures a secure and consistent oxygen flow throughout the procedure. Its 7-foot supply tube gives neonatal staff enough reach for positioning without tangling or restricting movement near the scanner.

2. Why is a trumpet connector preferred for neonatal oxygen setups?

The trumpet connector provides a snug, leak-resistant fit between the cannula and the oxygen outlet — an important feature when working with fragile, low-flow systems in newborn care. It helps prevent disconnections, maintaining steady oxygen delivery and accurate flow control during MRI scans or bedside treatments. This connector type is widely used in neonatal units because it offers reliability and simplicity in setups where stability matters most.

3. Is this nasal cannula single-use, and how should hospitals manage supply for NICU or MRI use?

Yes. Each cannula is single-use and latex-free, meeting infection control and patient safety standards in neonatal and imaging environments. Hospitals typically stock cases of 50 to maintain a clean, ready supply for high-demand NICU or MRI workflows. The single-use design reduces cross-contamination risk while ensuring every infant receives a fresh, hygienic oxygen delivery setup.
