MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

KyphoLift introduces a purpose-built, no-lift positioning system designed specifically for today’s MRI environment. Engineered to provide stable, repeatable elevation at multiple angles, it replaces improvised padding and off-label supports with a reliable solution that holds throughout the entire exam. With no installation, no consumables, and no downtime, KyphoLift integrates seamlessly into any MRI suite—delivering consistent, reproducible positioning without shifting, collapsing, or repeated adjustments.

Developed in response to real-world MRI workflow challenges, KyphoLift addresses the daily positioning demands technologists face—particularly with kyphotic and obese patients. Manual lifts that exceed OSHA’s 35-lb guideline, along with shifting padding and decompression-prone supports, often contribute to motion artifact, exam delays, and repeated repositioning. These systemic workarounds disrupt throughput and increase technologist strain, yet their operational and liability impact is frequently underrecognized outside the magnet room.

By enabling safe, stable elevation before the patient even enters the room, KyphoLift and KyphoWedge improve comfort and exam readiness for head and neck imaging while supporting Safe Patient Handling initiatives. The system keeps the patient’s center of gravity close to the table, enhancing stability and reducing the need for manual lifting—empowering a single technologist to deliver efficient, no-lift care, even in limited-staff or on-call situations.

KyphoWedge is a patient leg support accessory of the Kypholift that provides a wide stable base with interlocking height adjustment pads for tailored patient comfort and remain in place throughout imaging. Burn prevention- comfort pads, leg stabilizing strap and storage case included.
