MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

How should the leg rest be positioned under the patient’s legs?

Place the curved portion beneath the lower legs so the support is centered and stable before the scan or procedure begins. Adjust its position to support the intended anatomy without placing pressure behind the knees or allowing the legs to roll off the sides. Staff should confirm patient comfort and alignment before starting imaging.

Can this leg rest be used with an MRI table or imaging coil?

Yes, it can be used as a separate positioning aid alongside MRI tables, coils, and other imaging accessories, provided it does not interfere with the equipment or the required anatomy position. Check the available space around the table and coil before use, and follow your facility’s MRI safety procedures for the specific scanner setup.

Is the large leg rest suitable for every patient?

The 10” × 24” × 18” size is intended for positioning that requires a larger support surface, but patient anatomy and procedure requirements still need to be considered. Check that the leg rest provides stable support without forcing the knees or ankles into an uncomfortable position. Use additional positioning aids only when they are appropriate for the exam.

How should the open-cell foam surface be cared for between patients?

Clean the leg rest according to your facility’s infection-control procedures and the manufacturer’s care instructions for open-cell foam. Avoid saturating the foam or using a cleaning product that could damage the material. Allow the surface to dry fully before placing it back into service.

What should we inspect before purchasing this warehouse-sale leg rest?

Confirm that the dimensions, foam design, and MR safety classification fit your intended workflow before ordering. This item is listed as new, open box, and final sale, so review the product details carefully and make sure the size works with your tables and positioning protocols. Contact MRI Med with any application questions before purchase.
