MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are Liquimark 30mm Tube Skin Markers safe for use in MRI scans?

Yes. The Liquimark MRI Skin Markers are built from non-metallic, non-conductive, and latex-free materials and are MR Conditional for use at 1.5T and 3T field strengths. They can remain in place during scanning without causing signal voids, image distortion, or safety concerns in the MRI suite.

2. What are Liquimark 30mm Tube Markers used for?

These markers are ideal for thoracic spine, back, and larger anatomical areas where clear visual reference points are needed. Their 30mm tubular design produces a consistent, well-defined signal, allowing radiologists to precisely correlate surface markers with internal anatomy during diagnostic MRI studies.

3. How do Liquimark MRI Skin Markers improve imaging accuracy?

Each marker is filled with an MRI-visible liquid formulated to closely match the magnetic properties of human tissue. This helps reduce signal distortion and maintain a clean, artifact-free image—especially important in spine and body imaging, where accurate alignment and lesion correlation are critical.

4. How are the 30mm tube markers applied and removed?

Liquimark markers are single-use and ready to apply. Simply place the marker on clean, dry skin using its adhesive backing. It stays secure throughout the scan and removes easily without residue or irritation. Each box includes 40 individually packaged markers to support efficient MRI workflow.

5. What size options are available, and how do I choose the right one?

Liquimark markers come in several formats, including 3mm, 8mm, 15mm, and 30mm tubes, as well as round markers for smaller areas. The 30mm size is best suited for larger body regions or deeper structures, while smaller markers are used for focused studies like extremity or breast imaging.
