MR Unsafe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Where should a one-sided “Magnet Always On” warning light be installed in an MRI suite?

This light is designed for areas outside the magnetic field, usually at the doorway into Zones III or IV. Most facilities mount it above the magnet-room door or at the last screening checkpoint so the illuminated warning is impossible to miss. It's a simple way to make sure anyone approaching the room understands the field is active and that proper MRI screening must be completed before entry.

2. How dependable is the light if the facility loses power or needs continuous operation?

The unit is built for nonstop use, with long-life LEDs rated for roughly 25,000 hours of continuous illumination. It’s hardwired for stable power and includes a battery backup that keeps the warning visible during outages or electrical transitions. That reliability is a major reason MRI teams use this model in busy hospital environments where safety signals can’t go dark.

3. What are the size and mounting options, and does it fit in tight MRI hallway spaces?

Yes. At 7.5" × 12" × 2", the light is compact enough for narrow hallways, tight door frames, and low-clearance installations. The standard one-sided model mounts to a wall, but the same design is also available in a ceiling-mount, double-sided version for facilities that need visibility from both directions. Both options deliver a clear, bright “Magnet Always On” indication without taking up valuable space.
