MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI Conditional 6 Cylinder Cart safe for use inside the MRI suite?

Yes. The MRI Med 6-Cylinder Cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, tested and labeled per ASTM F2503 standards. It’s built from non-ferromagnetic aluminum, ensuring there’s no magnetic attraction or image distortion when used under standard MRI operating conditions. This makes it safe for use in MRI Zones II–IV, including near the bore, as long as the system setup follows all MR Conditional guidelines.

What cylinder sizes and capacities does this MRI cart hold?

This cart holds up to six D or E size oxygen cylinders, which are the most common medical gas cylinder sizes used in MRI departments. The 6-cylinder capacity is ideal for high-volume imaging centers or hospitals where multiple gas supplies need to move efficiently between prep areas, scanner rooms, and recovery zones.

What makes this 6-cylinder MRI cart a good choice for busy imaging departments?

It’s built for efficiency, durability, and ease of use. The tilt-back dolly-style frame lets staff load and maneuver cylinders without strain, while 6-inch smooth-rolling casters make movement across corridors and MRI floors effortless. The lightweight aluminum frame resists corrosion and is easy to wipe down with standard hospital disinfectants, helping teams maintain safety and cleanliness without added maintenance.

Can this MR Conditional cylinder cart remain in the MRI room during active scanning?

Yes — this cart can safely stay inside the MRI room when used within its MR Conditional 3T specification. Its all-aluminum, non-magnetic construction eliminates risk of magnetic attraction or equipment interference. Before bringing it near the bore, always confirm that any attached accessories — such as regulators, hoses, or flowmeters — are also MR Conditional to the same field strength.

How quickly can the MRI Conditional 6 Cylinder Cart be shipped, and what’s the return policy?

Most MRI Med cylinder carts ship within 48 business hours for stocked items. The cart arrives fully assembled and ready for use. Returns are accepted for unused products with prior approval, following MRI Med’s 30-day return policy. Any freight damage or shortages should be reported within 48 hours of delivery to ensure a quick resolution.
