MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in the MR-Conditional Narrow Six Drawer Emergency Cart – Specialty Package?

The Specialty Package adds the essentials most MRI teams need right out of the box: an IV pole, oxygen tank holder (D/E size), cardiac board with stainless brackets, four utility hooks, and adjustable drawer trays. It’s built for real use in MRI environments where quick access and reliable setup matter.

Is this emergency cart approved for use near a 3T MRI scanner?

Yes. This cart is MR-Conditional at 3 Tesla, tested by an independent authority to meet ASTM F2503 standards. Every part—from the frame to the casters—is low-ferrous and non-magnetic, so it performs safely in MRI Zones III and IV when used under the specified conditions.

Why use an MR-Conditional cart instead of a regular crash cart?

Standard carts often contain steel parts that can become dangerous around an MRI magnet. This one is built from low-ferrous materials, so it won’t react to the magnetic field. It gives staff full access to emergency supplies without having to move equipment in or out of the scan room, keeping response times fast and safety uncompromised.

How big is the MR-Conditional Narrow Emergency Cart and how much can it store?

It’s 46 inches tall, 21.5 inches wide, and 23.75 inches deep, with six drawers: one 4″, two 3.25″, two 6.5″, and one 9.75″. The drawers slide smoothly on low-ferrous rails, and the antimicrobial top doubles as a small work surface. The narrow footprint makes it easy to move through MRI suite doorways and tight areas.

Where can I order the MR-Conditional Specialty Emergency Cart?

You can buy it directly from MRI Med. Every unit is made in the U.S., ships fully assembled, and includes a 12-year limited warranty (1-year on bought-out parts). Stocked models usually ship within two business days.
