MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does MR-Conditional mean for this emergency cart?

This cart is MR-Conditional, meaning it’s been tested to 3 Tesla and shown to pose no known hazards in that MRI environment when used under specified conditions. It meets ASTM F2503 standards and is built with non-magnetic, low-ferrous materials so it can be safely used in MRI Zones III and IV near active scanners.

Can this MR-Conditional cart stay in the MRI suite during scans?

Yes. The cart’s non-magnetic frame, sealed low-ferrous casters, and smooth-glide drawer slides allow it to stay in the room during scanning. Just make sure any tools or supplies stored inside are also MR-Conditional or non-magnetic to keep the environment fully compliant.

What makes this emergency cart a good fit for MRI use?

Every detail supports MRI-suite workflow and safety. The breakaway locking system allows fast access in emergencies, while the compact six-drawer design saves space. Its powder-coated finish, antimicrobial worktop, and protective bumpers make it durable, easy to clean, and simple to maneuver in tight areas.

How big is the cart and how much storage does it have?

The cart measures 46″ H × 21.5″ W × 23.75″ D and weighs about 85 lbs. It includes six drawers—one 4″, two 3.25″, two 6.5″, and one 9.75″—with full-extension slides for easy access. That’s plenty of space for organized storage of MRI-approved emergency supplies.

Where can I get the MR-Conditional Narrow Six Drawer Emergency Cart?

You can order it directly from MRI Med. Each unit is made in the U.S., delivered fully assembled, and backed by a 12-year limited warranty (1 year on bought-out parts). Stocked carts usually ship within two business days.
