MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

The MR Conditional PVC Privacy Screen is an essential addition to any MRI suite, designed to provide optimal privacy for patients while ensuring ease of use and maintenance. Each panel measures 21 inches by 51 inches and is equipped with a 13-inch clearance from the base to the bottom, allowing for effortless cleaning and accessibility. Its expandable three-panel design extends to a total width of 67 inches, offering ample coverage, and folds down to a compact 24 inches by 5 inches for convenient storage when not in use. This innovative screen is constructed from lightweight, durable PVC materials, making it easy to move and position wherever needed while maintaining solid performance in busy imaging environments.

The privacy screen incorporates removable Velcro panels that enable quick reconfiguration or easy cleaning to uphold high hygiene standards in healthcare settings. The mildew-resistant surfaces require only a damp cloth for routine cleaning, ensuring consistent compliance with cleanliness standards. Designed with function and flexibility in mind, this product is ideal for professionals seeking reliable MRI equipment solutions.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this PVC privacy screen be used safely inside an MRI suite?

Yes. The screen is MR Conditional up to 3-Tesla, so it's appropriate for MRI Zones III and IV when used as intended. Its PVC frame contains no magnetic components, and the lightweight design makes it easy to position near the magnet without creating pull-force or safety concerns.

2. How easy is this MRI privacy screen to clean and maintain?

The PVC panels are mildew-resistant and wipe clean with a damp cloth, which keeps daily hygiene simple. The Velcro-attached panels can be removed in seconds for deeper cleaning or replacement—helpful in imaging departments with high patient turnover or strict infection-control protocols.

3. Does the folding design help save space in a busy MRI room?

Definitely. Fully open, the screen provides 67 inches of coverage across three panels, but it folds down to a compact 24" × 5", which is ideal for MRI rooms with limited storage. The 13-inch ground clearance also allows housekeeping to clean under the panels without dragging or lifting the frame.
