MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this anesthesia cart MR Conditional and safe for MRI environments?

Yes. The Seven Drawer Anesthesia Cart – Specialty Package is MR Conditional, tested in accordance with ASTM F2503 standards for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla. The cart’s low-ferrous frame, casters, and hardware are engineered to minimize magnetic attraction and torque, allowing safe operation in MRI Zones III and IV when used under the specified MR Conditional conditions.

What’s included in the Specialty Package, and how does it support MRI anesthesia workflow?

The Specialty Package upgrades the standard cart with:

  • an aluminum 3-tier raised back rail system for mounting accessories,
  • four aluminum side rails for bins and trays, and
  • two full-drawer plastic organizers for better supply management.

These additions keep anesthesia tools and medications organized and accessible, improving workflow efficiency during MRI procedures where space and time matter.

What makes this anesthesia cart MRI-ready?

This model uses low-ferrous materials and 5-inch sealed ball-bearing casters that roll smoothly near MRI magnets without causing vibration or drag. The heat-sealed powder-coat finish resists cleaning chemicals, while the antimicrobial removable top helps maintain infection control standards. It also includes protective corner bumpers, a pull-out shelf, and a BEST® brand key lock for secure medication storage.

What are the size, weight, and drawer configuration details?

The cart measures 46 in H × 31.8 in W × 23.75 in D and weighs 137 lbs. Drawer layout:

  • (1) 4-inch drawer
  • (4) 3.25-inch drawers
  • (1) 6.5-inch drawer
  • (1) 9.75-inch drawer

Each drawer offers 23.9 in W × 17 in D of internal space, giving ample room for anesthesia and airway management supplies while keeping everything clearly separated for quick access.

What warranty, shipping, and assembly details should facilities know?

This MRI anesthesia cart includes a 12-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on the cabinet and a 1-year warranty on bought-out parts. It’s delivered fully assembled with pre-threaded mounting holes for accessories and is made in the USA. Most stocked models ship within 48 business hours (Mon–Fri, PST) via UPS, FedEx, or freight. Returns are accepted within 30 days when approved and in original condition under MRI Med’s standard return policy.
