MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this emergency cart MR Conditional and tested for use in MRI environments?

Yes. The Six Drawer Emergency Cart – Breakaway Lock Specialty Package is MR Conditional, designed and tested for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla. It meets the ASTM F2503 definition for MR Conditional equipment, meaning it can be used safely in MRI Zones III and IV when operated under specified conditions. The cart’s low-ferrous construction minimizes magnetic attraction, torque, and interference near the MRI bore.

What’s included in the Specialty Package, and how does it help during MRI emergencies?

The Specialty Package is fully equipped for fast response in MRI suites. It includes:

  • a breakaway locking system with 100 seals for quick, secure access,
  • a stainless steel cardiac board with mounting brackets,
  • an IV pole,
  • an oxygen tank holder for D/E cylinders,
  • four aluminum utility hooks, and
  • two full-drawer plastic trays with adjustable dividers.

These accessories are MR Conditional and streamline emergency response inside MRI zones where time and access are critical.

What materials make this MRI emergency cart safe for use near the magnet?

This cart uses low-ferrous materials throughout — including its drawer slides, hardware, and 5-inch sealed ball-bearing casters — so it won’t be pulled or affected by strong magnetic fields. The powder-coat finish resists chipping and cleaning agents, while the antimicrobial removable top and protective corner bumpers help maintain hygiene and protect equipment in high-traffic MRI suites.

What are the cart’s dimensions, drawer layout, and weight?

The emergency cart measures 46 in H × 31.8 in W × 23.75 in D and weighs 126 lbs. Drawer configuration:

  • (1) 4-inch drawer
  • (2) 3.25-inch drawers
  • (2) 6.5-inch drawers
  • (1) 9.75-inch drawer

The six-drawer layout offers organized storage for airway supplies, emergency meds, and monitoring accessories—perfect for MRI anesthesia or code situations where visibility and speed matter.

What are the warranty, shipping, and assembly details?

Each cart includes a 12-year limited manufacturer’s warranty on the cabinet and a 1-year warranty on bought-out parts. It arrives fully assembled, with pre-threaded holes for accessories—ready for immediate use. Most stocked units ship within 48 business hours (Mon–Fri, PST) via UPS, FedEx, or freight. Returns are accepted within 30 days when approved and in original condition under MRI Med’s standard policy.
