MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can this pediatric headset be used safely inside the MRI scanner?

Yes. The headset is MR Safe, meaning it’s completely non-magnetic and safe to use inside the MRI room — even during scans. The cord-free design also helps reduce clutter and makes setup simpler for technologists.

2. Why choose a cord-free headset for pediatric MRI scans?

A cord-free headset removes one of the biggest frustrations during pediatric scans — tangled or misplaced cables. It’s safer for young patients and easier for staff to position, especially when working with smaller head coils or anxious children.

3. Does this headset actually help with MRI noise for kids?

It does. When paired with 29 dB earplugs, the headset helps block the loud knocking sounds of the MRI scanner so children can stay calm and comfortable. Many technologists say it makes a big difference in keeping younger patients relaxed and still.

4. Will it fit all pediatric patients, including infants?

Yes. The adjustable headband and soft, compressible ear muffs are designed to fit a wide range of ages — from infants to smaller adults — without pinching or sliding. The lightweight frame makes it easy to keep in place during long scans.

5. Do the color options make a difference for patient comfort?

It sounds small, but it helps. The headset comes in pink, blue, and purple rain patterns, which can make the MRI experience feel a little friendlier for children. Letting a young patient pick a color often helps ease anxiety before the scan.
