MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the MRI 17-piece tool box fully non-magnetic for use inside MRI suites?

Yes. Every tool in this 17-piece set is built from non-magnetic materials, including the adjustable wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and specialty tools. That means they can be safely used in Zones III and IV without creating pull-force hazards or interfering with your scanner. For facilities looking for a more complete in-room toolkit—not just a few basics—this box gives you a full range of options that stay compliant.

2. What kinds of MRI maintenance tasks does this 17-piece set cover?

This kit is designed for day-to-day MRI maintenance, service work, and crate handling. It includes multiple box-end wrenches for tightening hardware on equipment frames, adjustable wrenches and pipe wrenches for mechanical adjustments, pliers for gripping and cutting, and utility items like the putty knife, scraper, brush, and hammer for general facility upkeep. It’s a practical “all-tasks” kit for imaging centers that want to keep most routine fixes inside the MRI suite.

3. How durable is the tool box and the tools for high-use clinical environments?

The tool box and all components are built for reliable, repeated use in hospital settings. The non-magnetic metals hold up well to routine disinfecting, and the box itself is sturdy enough for daily transport between rooms or carts. For MRI teams that need a long-lasting, comprehensive maintenance kit—not just disposable items—this set offers strong durability while remaining safe around the magnet.
