MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the MRI Cleaning Wand approved for use inside the MRI room?

Yes. The MRI Cleaning Wand is made entirely from non-magnetic materials and is MR Safe, meaning it can be used safely in all MRI zones, including inside the scanner room. It allows staff to clean sensitive areas like the magnet bore and gantry without risk of interference or magnetic attraction.

2. What makes this cleaning wand ideal for MRI equipment maintenance?

The wand’s lightweight 36-inch design gives technicians precise reach into tight or curved spaces that standard cleaning tools can’t access. It’s engineered to maintain equipment cleanliness and image quality, helping prevent buildup of dust or debris that could affect scan performance over time.

3. Can this wand be used with disinfectants or cleaning solutions?

Yes. The wand can be used with most hospital-grade disinfectants or approved MRI cleaning sprays. Always choose non-corrosive solutions that are safe for imaging equipment surfaces. The easy-eject disposable pads attach securely to the wand, so you can apply disinfectant evenly and remove them without contact after cleaning.

4. How does the easy-eject pad feature improve infection control?

The push-to-release mechanism lets staff remove used pads without direct handling, reducing the risk of cross-contamination between patient cleanings. This design supports infection control compliance while keeping cleaning quick and efficient between scans.

5. Are disposable refills available for the MRI Cleaning Wand?

Yes. It’s compatible with MRI Med’s JS-101 (100 Count) and JS-102 (400 Count) Disposable Cleaning Wand Refills, which are also non-magnetic and MRI-approved. Keeping a supply of refills on hand helps maintain consistent hygiene standards throughout daily operations.
