MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are these disposable cleaning pads safe for use in MRI environments?

Yes. The MRI Cleaning Wand Disposable Refills are made from non-magnetic materials and are MR Safe, meaning they can be used in all MRI zones, including near or inside the magnet bore. They’re designed specifically for use with MRI Med’s Cleaning Wand (JS-100) to maintain hygiene without affecting imaging equipment.

2. What are these refills used for in MRI cleaning routines?

These disposable pads are used to clean and dust the MRI bore, gantry, and other hard-to-reach areas of imaging equipment. They help remove lint, dust, and residue buildup that can impact system performance or image clarity. Their ergonomic design allows smooth cleaning around curves and narrow spaces without scratching or damaging equipment surfaces.

3. How do the disposable pads support infection control in MRI suites?

Each pad is single-use, which helps prevent cross-contamination between patients or cleaning zones. The easy-eject feature of the cleaning wand lets staff discard used pads without direct contact, supporting compliance with infection control and hospital hygiene standards.

4. Are these pads compatible with cleaning solutions or disinfectants?

Yes. The pads can be used dry for dust removal or with approved non-corrosive disinfectants for deeper cleaning. For best results, use MRI-safe cleaning agents that are compatible with sensitive imaging components and facility disinfection protocols.

5. How many refills come in each pack, and are other quantities available?

Each package includes 100 disposable pads, sized 5" L x 4" W for ideal surface coverage. Facilities with higher cleaning volume can also order the JS-102 400-count refill pack to reduce restocking frequency and maintain consistent availability for daily cleaning routines.
