MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Are these combination wrenches fully non-magnetic for use in MRI rooms?

Yes. All seven wrenches are made from non-magnetic materials, so they can be used safely in MRI suites, including Zones III and IV. They won’t pull toward the magnet or affect the scanner’s field. For facilities that need a dedicated set of MRI-approved maintenance tools, this wrench set provides a reliable, compliant option.

2. What types of MRI maintenance work is this wrench set best suited for?

These sizes cover the most common fasteners used on MRI tables, coil mounts, carts, accessories, and general hardware throughout the suite. Whether you’re tightening equipment brackets, adjusting fixtures, or supporting biomed during service calls, the set gives techs a practical, everyday range without needing to bring ferrous tools into the room.

3. How durable are these non-magnetic wrenches for frequent cleaning and hospital use?

The wrenches are built for high-use clinical environments and hold up well to routine hospital disinfectants. They resist corrosion, maintain their grip over time, and stand up to the kind of repeated handling typical in MRI maintenance. For imaging centers looking for long-lasting, MRI-ready hand tools, this set offers strong durability without introducing magnetic risk.
