MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI Conditional 4 E Cylinder Rack safe for use inside MRI suites?

Yes. The MRI Med 4 E Cylinder Rack is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, meaning it’s tested and labeled per ASTM F2503 standards for safe use in MRI environments when used under specified conditions. Built from non-ferromagnetic aluminum, the rack will not be attracted to the magnetic field, making it suitable for MRI Zones II–IV, including near the magnet bore when properly positioned.

How many oxygen cylinders does this MRI rack hold, and what sizes are supported?

This rack securely holds up to four D or E size medical gas cylinders, the most commonly used sizes in MRI and hospital settings. It’s ideal for facilities that need organized, stationary storage for multiple oxygen or gas cylinders near the MRI suite, ensuring quick access while maintaining compliance with MRI safety standards.

What makes this 4-cylinder rack a good fit for MRI environments?

It’s purpose-built for MRI safety, efficiency, and durability. The all-aluminum frame eliminates magnetic hazards, while the white powder-coated finish resists corrosion and makes cleaning easy with standard hospital disinfectants. Its compact footprint keeps cylinders upright and secure without taking up valuable floor space — a key advantage in high-traffic MRI suites and prep areas.

Can this MR Conditional rack stay in the MRI room during patient scanning?

Yes, it can. The 4-cylinder rack is MR Conditional at 3T, so it can remain in the MRI room when positioned according to standard safety practices. Because it contains no ferromagnetic parts, it won’t create attraction or image artifacts. Always verify that any cylinders placed in the rack, as well as their attached valves or regulators, are also MR Conditional before bringing them into Zone IV.

What are the shipping and return details for this MRI cylinder rack?

Most MRI Med products ship within 48 business hours when in stock. The 4 E Cylinder Rack arrives fully assembled and ready for immediate use. Returns are accepted for unused items with prior approval within 30 days of shipment. Any freight damage or shortages must be reported within 48 hours to MRI Med and the carrier to ensure proper claim handling.
