MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the MRI CGA870 Click-Style 0–25 LPM Regulator approved for MRI use?

Yes. This regulator is MR Conditional, tested for safe operation in MRI systems up to 3 Tesla. It’s built from non-magnetic materials to prevent magnetic attraction and image distortion, allowing safe use in MRI Zones III and IV. The regulator connects directly to E-size oxygen cylinders and maintains accurate oxygen delivery through its click-style settings, making it a reliable choice for patient monitoring, anesthesia support, or transport inside MRI environments.

2. What makes this MRI Conditional click-style regulator different from standard oxygen regulators?

This MRI-specific regulator is engineered for magnetic safety and precision control. Unlike standard regulators that may contain ferromagnetic components, it uses MRI-approved construction and offers 11 flow settings from ¼ to 25 LPMfor a wide range of clinical applications. The click-style mechanism ensures quick, repeatable adjustments with clear tactile feedback, and the optional 50 PSI power take-off port can supply oxygen to auxiliary devices such as ventilators or flowmeters. It’s designed to give MRI staff accuracy and confidence without compromising safety.

3. Can this regulator connect to existing small oxygen cylinders and MRI accessories?

Yes. The CGA 870 inlet is the standard connection for small medical oxygen cylinders used in hospitals and imaging centers. This regulator integrates seamlessly with MRI Med’s MR Conditional oxygen cylinders, flowmeters, and carts, creating a fully compliant gas delivery setup. Its design supports up to 3,000 PSI inlet pressure, ensuring consistent, reliable performance for MRI departments that need flexible oxygen delivery options across multiple patient care scenarios.
