MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI M-Size Cylinder Cart safe for use inside the MRI suite?

Yes. This cylinder cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla and tested to meet ASTM F2503 safety standards. It’s built entirely from non-ferromagnetic aluminum, with a brass safety chain that secures the cylinder without introducing magnetic risk. This makes it safe for MRI Zones II–IV, including areas near the bore, when used under standard MRI operating conditions.

Which cylinder sizes does this MRI cart hold?

The MRI M-Size Cylinder Cart is designed to hold M60, M90, or M120 size medical gas cylinders, offering flexibility across different oxygen and gas storage needs. Each cart provides a snug, stable fit for the selected cylinder size, ensuring safe transport and preventing rolling or tipping during movement through the MRI suite.

What features make this MRI cylinder cart ideal for hospital and imaging use?

This cart is designed for durability, safety, and easy handling in MRI environments. The all-aluminum frame resists corrosion, the powder coat finish wipes clean easily, and the rubber-tread wheels roll quietly across hospital floors. The brass safety chain adds a non-magnetic securing point, and its lightweight design makes it easy to maneuver during patient transport or equipment setup.

Can this MR Conditional cylinder cart remain in the MRI room during scanning?

Yes — it can safely stay in the MRI room when used under its MR Conditional 3T rating. The cart is constructed to avoid magnetic attraction and RF interference, meaning it won’t affect image quality or safety. However, always verify that the attached cylinder and accessories, such as regulators or flowmeters, are also MR Conditional before bringing them into the scan room.

How is this MRI cylinder cart shipped, and what should I know before ordering?

Most MRI Med carts ship within 48 business hours for stocked items. Each cart arrives fully assembled and ready for immediate use. Custom options, such as color or cylinder capacity, can be requested. Because these carts are classified as MR Conditional medical products, returns require prior approval and must be unused. Freight or shipping damage should be reported within 48 hours of delivery for prompt resolution.
