MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the MRI safety status of the MRI ECG Quad Electrodes?

The MRI ECG Quad Electrodes are MR Conditional, tested and approved for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla. They’re designed to maintain accurate ECG signal quality without creating imaging artifacts or safety risks. Constructed from non-magnetic, low-conductivity materials, these electrodes allow for safe patient monitoring in MRI Zones III and IV, even during active scanning, when used according to specified conditions.

2. How do MRI ECG Quad Electrodes improve monitoring accuracy during MRI scans?

These electrodes are engineered to deliver stable, high-quality ECG signals while minimizing interference from magnetic fields and RF noise. Their design helps prevent motion and image distortion artifacts, ensuring clear cardiac data throughout the scan. The adhesive backing provides a secure yet gentle hold for patient comfort, while the low-profile shape supports easy placement in tight coil setups. This balance of precision and reliability makes them a trusted choice for cardiac and physiologic monitoring in MRI exams.

3. Are MRI ECG Quad Electrodes compatible with my existing MRI monitoring equipment?

Yes. MRI ECG Quad Electrodes are compatible with Philips Quadtrode systems and other standard MRI ECG setups. They come individually packaged to extend shelf life and maintain adhesive integrity. Available in two sizes (2.8" and 4.3"), they accommodate different patient needs and scan types. Whether used in hospital MRI suites or outpatient imaging centers, these electrodes integrate seamlessly into your workflow—offering consistent adhesion, clear signals, and dependable MRI safety compliance.
