MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI Lab Island Cart MR Conditional and safe for use near MRI scanners?

Yes. The MRI Lab Island Cart is MR Conditional and suitable for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla when used under the specified test conditions. It’s built from non-metallic, corrosion-resistant HDPE materials, meaning it contains no ferromagnetic components that could be attracted to the magnet. It can be safely used in MRI Zones III and IV for organizing and storing supplies close to the bore without introducing magnetic risk.

What materials make this MRI cart safe and durable?

This cart is constructed from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), a non-ferrous and corrosion-resistant plastic ideal for MRI use. The smooth, seamless design resists rust and contamination, and it’s easy to disinfect between patients. Its all-plastic construction eliminates magnetic interference while providing a sturdy workspace that stands up to daily clinical use.

How does the Lab Island Cart help improve workflow in MRI suites?

The large flat work surface gives technologists extra space for organizing coils, labeling samples, or prepping supplies. Inside, the full-extension internal shelf and bulk storage area keep essential items easy to reach and well organized. With two swivel and two locking twin-wheel casters, the cart rolls smoothly around the suite and locks securely in place when needed — helping MRI teams stay efficient and focused during busy imaging schedules.

What are the size, weight, and mobility specifications?

The MRI Lab Island Cart measures 23 ⅞ in L × 24 ¼ in W × 35 ⅜ in H and weighs 79 lbs. It includes 4-inch twin-wheel casters—two swivel for easy movement and two that lock for stability during use. The compact footprint fits well in tight MRI rooms while offering generous workspace and storage capacity for a range of MRI tools and accessories.

What are the warranty, assembly, and shipping details?

Each MRI Lab Island Cart ships fully assembled and ready to use, so there’s no setup required. Like other MRI Med products, it’s made in the USA and backed by a limited manufacturer’s warranty. Stocked items typically ship within 48 business hours (Mon–Fri, PST) via UPS, FedEx, or freight service. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery if approved and in original condition, following MRI Med’s standard return policy.
