MR Safe What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How are green MRI labels typically used in an MRI suite?

Many facilities use green labels to identify equipment that has already been reviewed and assigned to MRI use, or to mark accessories that stay within controlled MRI areas. The bright color makes it easy for techs to spot approved items during quick room turnovers, safety checks, or emergency responses. This 12-pack is a convenient way to tighten up labeling in high-traffic areas without overbuying.

2. Do these green labels hold up to daily disinfecting in an MRI environment?

Yes. These labels are made from a moisture-resistant material with a semi-permanent adhesive that handles routine MRI cleaning cycles well. They stay readable after frequent wipe-downs and don’t peel when applied to carts, bins, monitors, or plastic accessories. They’re built for the day-to-day wear that comes with a busy imaging schedule.

3. What’s the best way to use the different label sizes in the 12-pack?

Most teams pair size with visibility. The small labels work well for handheld tools, cables, or storage drawers. The medium labels help organize shelves, prep areas, and station storage. The large labels are perfect for carts, cabinets, and equipment that moves between zones, where quick identification makes a real difference. Using all three sizes together helps create a clean, consistent labeling system across your MRI suite.
