MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do facilities usually use red and green MRI labels together?

Most MRI departments use green labels to mark items that stay assigned to MRI use and red labels for equipment that needs to remain outside the magnet room. Using both colors in the same pack makes it easier to create a clear “yes/no” visual system that staff can read instantly during patient prep or an emergency. This mixed 24-pack is a simple way to tighten zone control and reduce time spent double-checking equipment.

2. Are these MRI labels durable enough for daily disinfecting and high-traffic use?

Yes. These labels are made from moisture-resistant material with a semi-permanent adhesive designed for the kind of constant cleaning that MRI suites rely on. They stay put on carts, bins, monitors, and plastics even after repeated wipe-downs, and the print stays sharp so safety markings are always easy to read. They’re built for long-term visibility in a busy imaging environment.

3. What’s the best way to choose which size label to use in the MRI suite?

Most teams match the size to how quickly the label needs to be seen. The small labels fit well on handheld tools, drawers, and cable storage. The medium labels work for shelves, supply bins, and workstation areas where techs need better visibility during room turns. The large labels stand out on carts, cabinets, and anything that moves between zones. Using all three sizes helps keep labeling consistent, organized, and easy for everyone on the shift to read at a glance.
