MR Safe What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What’s the practical advantage of ordering a 25-pack for MRI labeling?

A 25-pack is useful when you’re tightening up labeling in specific areas—like reorganizing Zone II storage, marking new accessories, or replacing labels that have worn out. It gives you enough quantity to clean up inconsistencies without committing to a bulk pack. Most sites use 25-packs for targeted updates rather than whole-suite overhauls.

2. Do these labels stay on well when they’re applied to carts, drawers, or accessories that get cleaned multiple times a day?

Yes. These labels are built to handle constant disinfecting, alcohol wipes, and high-touch workflows. They don’t smear or bubble, and the adhesive doesn’t soften with routine cleaning. MRI techs often use them on heavily handled items—drawer fronts, coil storage racks, positioning tools—because they stay readable after months of use.

3. How do I choose the right mix of label sizes for my 25-pack?

Most facilities pick sizes based on how the item is used and how quickly staff need to identify it. The small size works well for handheld tools and accessory bins, where space is tight. The medium size is a good fit for shelves and workstation areas that need clearer labeling during patient prep. The large size is ideal for carts, cabinets, and anything that moves between zones, since it’s easy to spot from a distance. Mixing sizes keeps labeling consistent and helps techs verify items quickly during busy shifts.
