MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is the MRI Multi-Level Folding Cot durable enough for daily use in a busy MRI department?

Yes. The cot is built on a reinforced X-frame carriage that holds up well to constant folding, unfolding, and transport. The plastic bearings on the moving parts are designed for smooth operation without frequent maintenance, which is helpful for imaging centers that need reliable equipment without adding to their service workload.

2. How does this cot help with patient comfort during longer wait times near the MRI room?

The cot includes a full-length bolster mattress, which keeps patients centered and reduces rolling or drift while they’re resting. The adjustable backrest lets you choose anything from flat to a 75-degree upright angle, so patients who are anxious, short of breath, or recovering from sedation stay comfortable while waiting for their scan slot.

3. Can the folding cot be used for patients who need to stay close to the MRI room between sequences?

Yes. Because it’s MR Conditional to 3T, it can stay near the room or even in Zone IV when needed, as long as staff follow the labeled conditions. Facilities often use it when a patient needs a quick break between sequences, or during procedures where the table needs to be briefly cleared without sending the patient far from the scanner.

4. How easy is it to clean the cot between patients?

The mattress and frame are designed for quick wipe-downs using standard hospital disinfectants. There are no deep seams, hidden fabric layers, or complex mechanisms that trap fluids. This makes turnaround faster and supports infection-control protocols in high-volume MRI environments.

5. Does the cot move easily over thresholds and RF-shielded door frames?

The four-wheel swivel system handles tight corners and MRI door thresholds smoothly. Because the wheels rotate independently, staff can steer it around control-room desks, hallway corners, and ferromagnetic detectors without wrestling the cot into position. It’s noticeably easier to maneuver than rigid framed stretchers in smaller MRI suites.
