MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the MRI safety rating for these non-magnetic C batteries, and are they approved for use near 1.5T and 3T scanners?

These batteries are MR Conditional, meaning they can be used in MRI environments when the conditions listed on their labeling are followed. Their non-magnetic construction makes them suitable for 1.5T and 3T systems, where standard batteries can become hazardous or cause performance issues. Facilities often use this 2-pack for powering small MRI-approved LED devices, laryngoscope handles, and accessories that need reliable power close to the bore.

2. Will these batteries work with MRI laryngoscope handles and other LED tools that require C cells?

Yes. Each battery has a button-top connection designed to seat securely in MRI Med LED products, including fiber-optic laryngoscope handles. Because they’re lithium-free and built with non-magnetic materials, they deliver steady, predictable output without introducing magnetic interference. This makes them a good fit for MRI airway carts, emergency kits, and any handheld device that needs a safe power source inside Zones III and IV.

3. How do these MRI-specific C batteries compare to regular C batteries in safety and performance?

Regular C batteries often contain ferromagnetic metals that can react to the magnetic field, posing safety risks or affecting device stability. These CE-approved, ROHS-compliant batteries avoid that problem entirely. They’re engineered to provide consistent power without drifting, pulling, or causing imaging artifacts. The 2-pack size works well for smaller MRI setups or when facilities want to keep a dedicated set of MRI-only batteries without overstocking.
