MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 2-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional for use in MRI suites?

Yes. This linen cart is labeled MR Conditional and tested for safe use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, in accordance with ASTM F2503 standards. It’s built with non-ferromagnetic PVC and MRI-appropriate casters, so it can safely be used in and around the MRI suite when operated under the specified MR Conditional conditions.

What makes this MRI linen cart suitable for imaging centers and hospital environments?

This cart is specifically designed to streamline linen storage and transport in MRI and general clinical settings. The two flat PVC shelves each hold up to 75 lbs, and the optional mesh or vinyl cover helps keep linens clean and organized between scans. The push-and-pull handle and twin-brake casters make it easy to maneuver through corridors or MRI Zones II–IV, ensuring a smoother, safer workflow.

What are the key materials, and why are they ideal for MRI environments?

The frame is made of durable, medical-grade PVC — a non-ferromagnetic and corrosion-resistant material that performs well in MRI environments. The cover is available in vinyl (for easy wipe-down cleaning) or mesh (for airflow and visibility), depending on facility preference. The four 3″ twin-brake casters are designed for quiet, stable movement without introducing magnetic interference.

How big is the MRI PVC Linen Cart, and what is its total weight capacity?

The cart measures 31.5″ long (with handles) × 20″ wide × 37″ high (with casters), with 12″ between shelves. Each shelf supports up to 75 lbs, for a total capacity of 150 lbs (evenly distributed). The 20″ × 25″ shelves offer generous space for linens, towels, or light equipment, and the compact frame fits easily through standard medical doors and MRI control room pathways.

What are the customization, shipping, and return details?

MRI Med offers custom color options and a choice between mesh or vinyl covers for this model. Each linen cart is made to order in the USA and typically ships according to production timelines using UPS, FedEx, or freight, depending on order size. Because it’s a custom-built MRI product, it’s non-returnable, except in the case of manufacturer defects, which MRI Med will resolve promptly to ensure customer satisfaction.
