MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 2-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional for use near MRI scanners?

Yes. This cart is MR Conditional and approved for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, in accordance with ASTM F2503 labeling standards. It’s made entirely from non-ferromagnetic PVC materials and MRI-appropriate components, ensuring it performs safely in and around MRI suites when used under specified MR Conditional conditions.

What makes this linen cart ideal for MRI departments and hospitals?

This linen cart is built to handle the daily demands of MRI workflow and hospital operations. With two spacious 20" x 50" flat shelves and a total weight capacity of 300 lbs (150 lbs per shelf), it easily accommodates linens, blankets, and lightweight supplies. The push-pull handle and 4" twin-brake casters provide smooth, stable movement through MRI Zones II–IV, and the Velcro closures help keep stored items secure during transport.

What materials and components are used, and how do they perform in MRI environments?

The cart is built from durable, medical-grade PVC, a non-ferromagnetic, corrosion-resistant polymer ideal for MRI environments. It comes with your choice of vinyl cover (for easy cleaning and infection control) or mesh cover (for better ventilation and visibility). The casters, fasteners, and frame design are carefully selected to minimize magnetic interference, ensuring safe operation near MRI systems.

What are the dimensions, shelf spacing, and assembly requirements?

The MRI PVC 2-Shelf Linen Cart measures 56.5” long (including handles) × 20” wide × 45.25” high (with casters), with 16.5” between shelves for easy loading and unloading. Each shelf supports up to 150 lbs, evenly distributed. The cart ships partially assembled, and final setup is simple — no special tools required. Once in place, it rolls smoothly and locks securely using the twin-brake caster system.

Can the MRI PVC Linen Cart be customized, and what are the ordering and return details?

Yes. MRI Med offers custom color options and your choice of mesh or vinyl cover materials to match facility preferences. Every cart is made to order in the USA, with careful attention to MRI safety and build quality. Orders typically ship via UPS, FedEx, or freight, depending on size and quantity. Because it’s a custom-built MR Conditional product, it’s non-returnable, except in cases of verified manufacturer defects, which MRI Med will promptly resolve.
