MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 3-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional for use in MRI environments?

Yes. This linen cart is MR Conditional and tested for use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, following ASTM F2503 labeling standards. It’s constructed from non-ferromagnetic PVC and MRI-safe hardware, allowing safe use in MRI Zones II–IV under normal MR Conditional conditions.

What makes this 3-shelf MRI linen cart a good fit for MRI departments and hospitals?

This model is designed to maximize efficiency and safety in MRI workflows. With three flat 20” x 25” shelves, it provides organized storage for linens, towels, or light equipment. The push-pull handle and 3” twin-brake casters make it easy to maneuver in tight spaces, and Velcro closures keep items secure during transport. Its compact footprint makes it especially useful in smaller MRI suites or shared imaging areas.

What materials and construction features make it suitable for MRI use?

The MRI PVC 3-Shelf Linen Cart is made from medical-grade, non-ferromagnetic PVC, which is corrosion-resistant, easy to clean, and safe near magnetic fields. You can choose between a mesh cover (for visibility and airflow) or a vinyl cover (for moisture resistance and infection control). Every component — including casters, fasteners, and frame materials — is selected to ensure compatibility in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla.

What are the cart’s size, load capacity, and assembly details?

This MRI linen cart measures 33” long (with handles) × 20” wide × 51.25” high (with casters). Each shelf supports up to 75 lbs, for a total evenly distributed load capacity of 225 lbs. Assembly is required but straightforward, with pre-fitted parts and easy-to-follow instructions. Once assembled, the cart rolls quietly and locks securely in place for safe use around MRI equipment.

Can I customize this MRI linen cart, and what should I know about ordering and shipping?

Yes. MRI Med allows full customization options, including cover material (mesh or vinyl) and color selection to match your facility’s design or departmental color coding. Each unit is made to order in the USA and typically ships via UPS, FedEx, or freight depending on size and order volume. Because it’s a custom-built MR Conditional product, returns are not accepted unless there is a verified manufacturing defect, which MRI Med will promptly resolve.
