MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 3-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional and approved for MRI environments?

Yes. This cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, tested and labeled according to ASTM F2503 standards. It’s made from non-ferromagnetic PVC and MRI-appropriate components, so it can be used safely in MRI Zones II–IV when operated under standard MR Conditional conditions.

What makes this 3-shelf linen cart a good choice for MRI departments?

This MRI-designed linen cart combines safe materials with smart functionality. It includes three flat 20” x 32” shelves, each supporting up to 100 lbs, to organize linens and lightweight supplies in busy MRI environments. The push-pull handle and 3” twin-brake casters make it easy to move between MRI rooms, while Velcro closures keep items secure during transport. It’s built for reliability and smooth handling inside the MRI suite.

What materials are used, and how do they perform near MRI scanners?

The frame is made from medical-grade PVC, a non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant material that’s ideal for MRI use. The cart is available with either a mesh cover (for airflow and visibility) or a vinyl cover (for moisture resistance and easy cleaning). Every component, from casters to fasteners, is selected to reduce magnetic interference while maintaining durability and cleanability in clinical settings.

What are the dimensions, shelf spacing, and assembly details?

This model measures 42” long (including handles) × 20” wide × 51.25” high (with casters), with 12” between shelves. Each shelf supports up to 100 lbs, providing a total load capacity of 300 lbs when evenly distributed. The cart ships partially assembled with clear instructions and requires only basic setup. Once assembled, it rolls quietly and locks firmly with the twin-brake caster system.

Can this MRI linen cart be customized, and what are the shipping or return details?

Yes. MRI Med offers full customization options, including mesh or vinyl cover materials and a variety of color choices to match your department’s needs. Each cart is made to order in the USA and ships via UPS, FedEx, or freight, depending on size and order quantity. Because it’s a custom-built MR Conditional product, returns are only accepted in cases of verified manufacturing defects, which MRI Med will promptly address.
