MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 3-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional for use in MRI suites?

Yes. This linen cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, tested and labeled in accordance with ASTM F2503. It’s made from non-ferromagnetic PVC and MRI-safe components, allowing safe use in MRI Zones II–IV when used under standard MR Conditional conditions. It’s purpose-built for MRI departments where patient safety and magnetic field compliance are top priorities.

What makes this 3-shelf MRI linen cart ideal for hospitals and imaging centers?

This cart is designed for facilities that move large volumes of linens or patient supplies around MRI suites. The three flat 20” × 50” shelves each hold up to 150 lbs, giving strong, stable support for heavier loads. Its push/pull handle and 4” twin-brake casters make it easy to maneuver, even in narrow hallways, while Velcro closures keep items contained during transport. It’s built to handle daily hospital use without compromising MRI safety.

What materials are used, and how do they perform in MRI environments?

The frame is made from medical-grade, non-ferromagnetic PVC, a corrosion-resistant and easy-to-clean material that performs reliably near MRI scanners. You can choose a vinyl cover for moisture resistance and infection control or a mesh cover for airflow and visibility. All hardware — including casters, fasteners, and shelf supports — is selected to eliminate magnetic attraction while maintaining long-term durability in clinical use.

What are the dimensions, load capacity, and assembly details?

The cart measures 58” long (with handles) × 20” wide × 65” high (with casters), with 16” between shelves for optimal storage space. Each shelf supports up to 150 lbs, giving a total load capacity of 450 lbs when evenly distributed. The cart ships partially assembled and includes all required components; final setup is quick and straightforward. Once assembled, the twin-brake casters lock securely for stability inside the MRI suite.

Can I customize this MRI linen cart, and what should I expect for shipping and returns?

Yes. MRI Med offers full customization options, including vinyl or mesh cover materials and a selection of colors to match your department’s look or color-coding system. Each cart is made to order in the USA and ships via UPS, FedEx, or freight, depending on size and order volume. Because it’s a custom MR Conditional product, returns are limited to verified manufacturing defects, which MRI Med will address promptly.
