MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC 4-Shelf Linen Cart MR Conditional and tested for use in MRI environments?

Yes. This linen cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, tested and labeled in accordance with ASTM F2503 standards. It’s built with non-ferromagnetic PVC and MRI-approved hardware, meaning it can safely be used in MRI Zones II–IV when following standard MR Conditional conditions. Its materials and construction ensure it won’t interfere with magnetic fields or scanner performance.

What makes this 4-shelf MRI linen cart ideal for hospitals and imaging centers?

This cart is designed for daily use in MRI departments, where workflow and safety go hand in hand. The four 20” × 32” flat shelves each support up to 100 lbs, giving ample capacity for folded linens, gowns, and light equipment. The push/pull handle makes it easy to maneuver through tight hallways, while 3” twin-brake casters allow smooth rolling and secure positioning. It’s a reliable, purpose-built storage solution for any MRI suite.

What materials are used, and how do they perform in MRI environments?

The cart frame is made from medical-grade PVC, a non-ferromagnetic and corrosion-resistant material that performs well near MRI scanners. All casters and fasteners are low-ferrous or non-magnetic, ensuring safe use around strong magnetic fields. You can choose a vinyl cover for infection control and moisture resistance, or a mesh cover for better airflow and visibility — both easy to clean and durable for high-use hospital settings.

What are the size, weight capacity, and setup details?

This model measures 42” long (including handles) × 20” wide × 65.5” high (with casters), with 12” of vertical space between each shelf. Each shelf supports up to 100 lbs, for a total load capacity of 400 lbs when evenly distributed. The cart ships partially assembled with everything needed for setup — the process is quick and straightforward. Once assembled, the twin-brake casters lock securely for stable, in-room use.

Can this MRI linen cart be customized, and what are the shipping and return details?

Yes. MRI Med offers full customization options, including your choice of vinyl or mesh material and several color options to match your facility’s workflow or coding system. Each cart is made to order in the USA and typically ships via UPS, FedEx, or freight, depending on size and volume. Because it’s a custom MR Conditional product, returns are accepted only for verified manufacturing defects, and MRI Med’s team ensures quick resolution when needed.
