MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC Crash Cart MR Conditional and tested for 3T environments?

Yes. The MRI PVC Crash Cart is MR Conditional up to 3 Tesla, meeting ASTM F2503 labeling standards. It’s designed for safe use in MRI environments when operated under the specified MR Conditional conditions, with no ferromagnetic materials or components. This allows it to be used confidently in and around MRI scanners without affecting image quality or safety.

What makes the MRI PVC Crash Cart suitable for emergency use in MRI suites?

This cart was built to support emergency response inside MRI environments. It features three drawers for quick access, an open lower shelf, and a dedicated oxygen storage compartment—all made from MRI-safe PVC materials that won’t interfere with the magnetic field. Locking stainless steel casters provide stability and easy maneuvering, even during urgent situations in the MRI suite.

What materials are used in this MRI crash cart, and are they non-magnetic?

The MRI PVC Crash Cart is constructed entirely from non-magnetic PVC and polymer components, with stainless steel casters that are safe for MR Conditional use. The materials are corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and easy to disinfect—ideal for maintaining MRI safety standards while keeping the cart durable enough for daily clinical use.

Can the MRI PVC Crash Cart stay in the MRI scanner room (Zone IV) during imaging?

Yes. This cart is designed to be safely positioned within the MRI scanner room (Zone IV), provided your facility follows standard MR Conditional safety procedures. It can remain in the room during scanning or be staged nearby for quick access. Always verify placement according to your site’s magnetic field maps and safety policy.

What are the dimensions, warranty, and ordering details for the MRI PVC Crash Cart?

The cart measures 31.5″ L × 34.5″ W, with 3″ stainless-steel casters for smooth mobility. Each unit is made to order and therefore non-returnable, except in cases of manufacturer defect. MRI Med typically ships within standard lead times for custom PVC equipment and provides full warranty coverage against defects in materials and workmanship.
