MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI PVC Utility Cart MR Conditional and safe for use near MRI scanners?

Yes. The MRI PVC Utility Cart is MR Conditional, tested for safe use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, in compliance with ASTM F2503 labeling standards. It’s constructed entirely from non-ferromagnetic materials, minimizing the risk of magnetic attraction or interference. The cart can be safely used in and around MRI suites when operated under standard MR Conditional conditions.

What makes the MRI PVC Utility Cart suitable for MRI departments and imaging centers?

This cart is designed specifically for MRI workflow efficiency and safety. Its lightweight PVC frame allows easy movement through MRI Zones II–IV, while the multi-shelf layout helps organize and transport coils, patient prep items, or other MRI accessories. Because it’s non-magnetic and corrosion-resistant, it’s ideal for daily use in imaging departments that need a dependable cart that won’t interfere with scans.

What materials are used, and how do they perform in MRI environments?

The cart is made from medical-grade PVC with non-ferromagnetic casters, designed to withstand daily hospital use while staying MRI-safe under MR Conditional guidelines. PVC provides excellent chemical resistance and is easy to disinfect, making it suitable for sterile or high-cleaning environments. Its lightweight structure makes it easy to maneuver without compromising durability or load capacity.

What are the size, load capacity, and assembly details?

The MRI PVC Utility Cart measures 21″ L × 19″ W × 30″ H and includes three evenly spaced shelves with 14.5″ clearance between levels. Each shelf supports up to 75 lbs, with a total load capacity of 225 lbs (evenly distributed). Assembly is required, but it’s straightforward and typically takes just a few minutes. Once assembled, the cart is stable, smooth-rolling, and built for everyday clinical use.

How is this cart shipped, and what should buyers know about returns?

Each MRI PVC Utility Cart is made to order in the USA to ensure MRI-grade quality and consistency. Standard lead time aligns with MRI Med’s production schedule, and orders ship via UPS, FedEx, or freight depending on volume. Because this is a custom-built product, it’s non-returnable except in cases of manufacturer defects — in which case MRI Med will address and resolve the issue promptly.
