MR Conditional What does this mean?

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the MRI Space Saver MRI Cart MR Conditional and safe for use near 3T scanners?

Yes. The MRI Space Saver MRI Cart is MR Conditional and tested for safe use in MRI environments up to 3 Tesla, in accordance with ASTM F2503 standards. It’s built from non-ferrous polyethylene and ABS plastic, so it won’t be affected by magnetic forces or create image artifacts. This makes it suitable for placement in MRI Zones III and IV, including areas close to the bore, when used under the specified conditions.

What makes the Space Saver Cart ideal for small MRI suites or tight spaces?

The compact footprint (15”W x 17”D x 35”H) makes this cart easy to maneuver in MRI rooms where space is limited. Despite its small size, it includes three full-extension drawers, a bulk storage compartment, and a clear PETG sliding door for quick visibility of stored supplies. The built-in handles and 3-inch locking casters make it simple to move or secure in place, helping MRI staff stay organized without cluttering the room.

What materials and construction features make this MRI cart safe and durable?

The MRI Space Saver Cart is made entirely from non-magnetic, corrosion-resistant materials, including polyethylene, ABS plastic, and PETG. The seamless one-piece top prevents fluid infiltration and makes cleaning easy, while the clear PETG door allows for quick identification of stored items. These materials are designed to handle daily hospital use, frequent disinfecting, and exposure to cleaning agents without cracking or degrading over time.

Can the MRI Space Saver Cart be used during scanning, or only in prep areas?

This cart can safely remain in the MRI scanner room (Zone IV) during imaging, provided it’s positioned according to your facility’s safety protocols for MR Conditional equipment. It does not contain any ferromagnetic parts, so it will not interfere with the magnetic field or affect image quality. Many facilities use it for storing coils, patient positioning aids, or other accessories needed close to the bore during procedures.

What are the warranty, shipping, and setup details for this MRI cart?

The MRI Space Saver MRI Cart ships fully assembled and ready to use — no tools or setup required. It’s made in the USA and backed by MRI Med’s limited manufacturer’s warranty for long-term reliability. Stocked units typically ship within 48 business hours (Mon–Fri, PST) via UPS, FedEx, or freight. Returns are accepted within 30 days of delivery with prior approval, provided the cart is unused and in its original packaging, per MRI Med’s return policy.
