MR Conditional What does this mean?
MR Safe

MR Safe – an item that poses no known hazards in all MRI environments. Using the terminology, “MR Safe” items are non-conducting, non-metallic, and non-magnetic items such as a plastic Petri dish. An item may be determined to be MR Safe by providing a scientifically based rationale rather than test data.

MR Conditional

MR Conditional – an item that has been demonstrated to pose no known hazards in a specified MR environment with specified conditions of use. “Field” conditions that define the MR environment include static magnetic field strength, spatial gradient magnetic field, dB/dt (time rate of change of the magnetic field), radio frequency (RF) fields, and specific absorption rate (SAR). Additional conditions, including specific configurations of the item (e.g., the routing of leads used for a neurostimulation system), may be required.

MR Unsafe

MR Unsafe – An item that is known to pose hazards in all MRI environments. MR Unsafe items include magnetic items such as a pair of ferromagnetic scissors.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this telescopic pole safe to use in MRI environments?

Yes. The MRI Telescopic 2-Section Pole is constructed entirely from non-magnetic materials, making it safe for use inside MRI suites, including near the bore. Its anodized aluminum body and nylon locking collars ensure reliable performance without posing magnetic hazards or interfering with imaging.

2. What makes this pole suitable for MRI cleaning and maintenance tasks?

This pole was designed to support routine cleaning and dusting in MRI suites where ferromagnetic tools can’t be used. The telescopic design allows staff to reach ceilings, vents, and light fixtures from the ground, helping maintain a contaminant-free environment around MRI systems without step stools or ladders.

3. How does the telescoping mechanism work?

The two-section telescopic design adjusts smoothly to the needed length—up to 8 feet—and locks securely in place with nylon locking collars. The collars are shaped for a comfortable grip, even with gloves or damp hands, ensuring control during use and preventing slippage.

4. Is this pole compatible with other MRI cleaning tools?

Yes. The pole is compatible with the MRI Cobweb Brush (JS-165) and other MRI-approved attachments that fit its locking cone. This allows staff to use one pole for multiple cleaning tools, making it a flexible addition to any MRI janitorial or infection-control setup.

5. What materials and features enhance durability and safety?

The pole is made from anodized, extruded aluminum, offering strength without magnetic interference. A non-slip end cap keeps the pole stable on the ground and prevents surface damage. Its corrosion-resistant construction ensures long-term use, even with repeated exposure to cleaning agents or moisture.
